BUCHAREST Romanian international defender Daniel Prodan has been made a free agent after two-and-a-half years on the sidelines at Rangers, the player said on Friday.

Prodan told Reuters: "I'm a free-of-contract player. We have separated amiably and I'm now awaiting proposals from Romanian or foreign clubs."

Prodan, a key player in the Romanian side which reached the 1994 World Cup quarterfinals, could not win a place in the Scottish champions' side after a serious knee injury.

Last year, Rangers loaned him to Romanian first division club Rocar Bucharest where Prodan played nine matches and he also played five games for Ladislau Boloni.
